Old town, Visual Image of Colonial Architecture in Semarang. Kota Lama Semarang is a visual image that presents the splendor of European architecture in the past. Many buildings stand-exotic ancient buildings and stately Dutch colonial relics, as if storing a myriad of stories that will never run out told. Around of Old City built water canals that its existence can still be seen up to now, although it is not maintained. This is why the Old City dubbed as Little Netherland. A separate location with a landscape similar to cities in Europe and canals that surround it make the Old City like a miniature of the Dutch in Semarang.
One of the most popular building and must-see while visiting the Old City of Semarang, the Blenduk church that are older than two and a half centuries. Church whose real name Nederlandsch Indische Kerk is still used as a place of worship until now the landmarks of Semarang.
Old Town areas has nickname called Little Netherland. The location is surrounded by canals with European architecture buildings make this area like a city in the Netherlands. The center of the Old Town area are in Srigunting Park, a park located in the heart of the Old Town area of Semarang. In the past this park is a field named parade plein, most likely because often used for military parades because not far away there is a military barracks. Before becoming the field, this park has a function as a cemetery Kerkhof or European citizens, prior to the early 19th century Kerkhof moved to the area pengapon. Srigunting around the park there are buildings with architectural and historical value such high Blenduk Church, Marba Building and Jiwasraya Building .
