Learn Bahasa Indonesia (part 3)

Learn Bahasa Indonesia is easy because it adapted from many language in the world.

community = komunitas
reality = realitas
commodity = komoditas



can you see those words? see the underline, where words in English end with -y, it becomes -tas in Indonesia. -C become -K in Indonesia.

expedition = ekspedisi/expedisi
communication = komunikasi
prostitution = prostitusi
socialization = sosialisasi

words ened with -tion, turns to -si
Cinta = Love, it has same meaning in Malay (Remember, Bahasa Indonesia and Malay has similar language, but Malay more Malay)

Portret, it has same meaning in Dutch which means Picture
Foto, it has same meaning with Dutch which means Photo
Motor it has same meaning with Dutch
Matras it has same meaning with Dutch

Trottoir then become Trotoar in Indonesia, it bacuase Indonesian in colonized era just heard what people from Holand said. Trottoir pronouce Trotoar

* there is no different between Bioskop and Sinema, but commonly Indonesia use words Bioskop rather than Sinema

Alhamdulillah, Insha'Allah, astaghfirullah - non-muslim Indonesia usually speak those words. It show that we (Indonesian) tolerate each other. Maybe when you first time come to Indonesia, you hear a person speak that word then you think that they must be a muslim, you are wrong, because non-muslim Indonesian also speak those words in certain circumstance. 

The old Indonesian also can speak Dutch, but usually only educated old Indonesian.
